Apple News+ offers hundreds of magazines and leading newspapers in one subscription. We are looking for an expert news editor to help take our weekend coverage to the next level. This is a fast paced role, requiring expertise in breaking news, features and sport - and a willingness to work independently for long periods. Applicants should have a strong sense of the news and sport landscape in the UK and US, a keen interest in journalism, awareness of the big running news stories, and be able to spot a snappy headline. You should also have an appreciation of what makes good features journalism: what readers want in a story, and what they would be prepared to pay for.

- Curate news, features and sport coverage from Apple News publishers, with a focus on quality writing, in-depth reporting and accuracy. - Write sharp and engaging copy in the Apple News voice. Craft headlines that highlight the most engaging angle of a story. - Explain and provide context around sophisticated news stories, often on tight deadlines. - Create high-profile packages around key news moments and major issues. - Work from Thursday to Sunday - with Saturday and Sunday being the main focus. - Using analytics to test and sharpen ideas for features curation in the week ahead. - Work cross-functionally (product, engineering, business) to support News projects and goals. Minimum Qualifications
- Experience with curating breaking news for a national or international audience.
- A background in working in a fast-paced newsroom environment.
- You have strong editorial judgement and excellent headline writing skills.
- A deep familiarity with the UK and US media landscape - and major writers and journalists.
- You’ve worked in a variety of CMSs and social-media platforms, and have a keen understanding of the tools that support innovative editorial.
Preferred Qualifications
- You are proficient with data and analytics, and can responsibly incorporate user behaviour into your editorial strategy.
- Experience working at a magazine, and sub-editing would be a bonus.
- You have a keen feel for local news, and which publishers are strong across the various cities and regions of the UK. You have experience covering big moments in sport.
