General Description of the Role
To assist the warehouse department in ensuring that enough materials are available to the manufacturing team. Operating a forklift to load vehicles ready for the following day. Also unloading materials, (palletised and non-palletised) and moving to designated areas, following safe systems of work.
Ensuring that waste is baled, and the work area is kept clean, safe and tidy. Physical work and manual handling is required. The warehouse operative must comply with health and safety legislation.
Hours of Work
Normal working hours are 48 per week to be worked between Monday and Friday each week (working hours are between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:45 pm, Monday to Thursday inclusive and between 7:00 am and 3:45 pm on a Friday inclusive, all days with a forty-five (45) minute unpaid lunch break).
Main Duties of the Role
- Pick goods & materials and load to racking and vehicles.
- Operate fork lift, pallet jacks, pump trucks and other types of warehouse equipment.
- Palletisation and strapping of goods for delivery.
- Load and unload vehicles in accordance with load manifestos.
- Scan stock and vehicle loads using bar code system.
- Bale waste and recycling.
- Ensure warehouse and yard areas are tidy and free of hazards.
- Receipt goods in and allocate to relevant departments.
- Produce labels as needed for loads assigned to external carriers.
- Ensure manufacturing team has adequate supplies to ensure continuous production.
- Use company computer systems designed for stock control and other departmental tasks.

- To maintain standards in line with the requirements of the job, health & safety legislation and Company policies.
- To undertake such other duties and responsibilities as may be determined by a Director from time to time.

- Full compliance with British Retail Consortium, (BRC), hygiene standards.

Person Specification
- Qualifications - Counter Balance Forklift License.
- Skills / Knowledge - Must be able to work well within a team and demonstrate ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English. Use of strapping tools, forklift pallet trucks and pallet trucks desirable.
- Experience - Forklift operation, Goods In, RF Scanner use and computerised stock control systems.
