Role overview
We are seeking a creative and skilled Web Design Professional to join our team to build our community in a volunteer basis. This volunteer will play a crucial role in enhancing our online presence, ensuring our website is engaging, user-friendly, and effectively communicates our mission. Key responsibilities
The role holder is expected to:
§ create, design, maintain, and update our website, ensuring it is visually appealing, functional, and aligned with our brand identity.
§ improve the usability of the website to enhance user engagement and experience.
§ work with our content team to integrate multimedia elements, including text, images, videos, and audio, into the website.
§ ensure the website is responsive and optimized for various devices (desktops, tablets, mobile phones).
§ implement SEO best practices to improve search engine rankings and utilise analytics tools to track and report on website performance.
§ collaborate with our marketing and communication teams to ensure the website supports our outreach and engagement strategies.
§ provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for website issues as they arise.
Essential skills
The successful applicant should have:
- proven experience in web design and development, with a strong portfolio showcasing previous projects.
- proficiency in web design tools and technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and experience with content management systems (CMS) like WordPress.
Desirable skills
- Basic understanding of SEO principles and web analytics.
- Experience in integrating various multimedia elements (images, videos, audio) into websites.
- Knowledge of web accessibility standards and best practices.
- Experience in managing web design projects from inception to completion.
- Familiarity with graphic design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or similar tools.
- Understanding of digital marketing strategies and how web design can support them.
- Willingness to stay updated with the latest web design trends and technologies.
Time commitment
- Flexible hours, with an estimated commitment of 5-10 hours per week. The schedule can be adjusted based on the volunteer’s availability.
- A minimum commitment of 12 months is preferred, with the possibility of extension based on mutual agreement.
