East Sussex Hearing, an independent countywide charity based in Eastbourne, has dedicated over two decades to serving the deaf and hard of hearing community across East Sussex. Our mission is to provide hearing loss related advice and practical support, enabling people to live their best lives.
We are currently looking for one or two admin/reception assistants to work alongside other volunteers and charity staff at our Eastbourne centre.
Accountable to: Volunteer Co-ordinator
Location: Eastbourne, East Sussex
Hours: Depending on your availability, this is an ongoing role. Wednesdays and/or Thursdays, 10am to 3.30pm.
What you’ll be doing
Volunteering at our lively Eastbourne centre offers an enjoyable opportunity to socialise and make new connections, all whilst contributing to the charity's vital services within the community.
You'll be involved in providing a friendly and helpful service in our comfortable, light and airy, ground floor level access centre.
Specific Tasks & Responsibilities
- Meet and greet visitors (including members of the public) at the front entrance
- Escort visitors to relevant area
- Answer the phone and pass on messages using email
- Enter data on computer system
- Assist staff with event preparations and in-centre displays
- Provide general hearing loss information and advice, including signposting to other services
- Opportunity to train as a volunteer hearing aid maintenance assistant if wished
Role Requirements
- Confident phone manner
- Competent digital skills - inc. ability to use email and learn new skills
- Accurate data entry and recording skills
- Friendly, patient and polite approach

Training & Support
