London Hire Community Services is one of the largest specialist and accessible transport operators in the UK, providing quality passenger transport services in Kent, Surrey, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Hertfordshire, Milton Keynes and across London.We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Transport Operations Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Transport Operations Manager, the successful applicant will support in overseeing the activities of the Commercial Department.
Key Responsibilities
- Overseeing the daily operations of the commercial team, including drivers, vehicles, and administrative duties.
- Ensuring all staff begin work promptly at their designated times and that scheduled services operate according to plan.
- Confirming vehicle checks are performed before each use to maintain roadworthy standards, and reporting any defects to the Transport Operations Manager and the Fleet department.
- Making sure all the vehicles are service-ready, clean, fuelled, and appropriately equipped for their intended journeys.
- Maintaining vehicle cleanliness, both inside and out, ensuring all operational vehicles are presentable and ready for dispatch.
- Assisting with the removal and installation of seating as operational needs dictate.
- Communicating efficiently and informatively with stakeholders and clients.
- Keeping all required Commercial Department administration up to date and clearly communicated within the team, using systems such as Cordic, Zeelo, TruTac, client portals, and HR platforms.
- Taking part in the on-call operations rota, providing weekend and overnight coverage for all aspects of Commercial Operations.
- Proactively provide clients with quotes in a timely manner.
- Be a proactive and professional team member, taking on tasks that support the department’s success.
- Carrying out compliance-related duties as requested by management, such as managing vehicle and staff records, handling vehicle defects, and overseeing preventive maintenance procedures.
- Supporting commercial operations across multiple depots when required.
- Providing emergency driver coverage if necessary.
- Driving vehicles safely, always following local laws and speed limits; promptly report any fines or tickets to the office.
- Performing any other reasonable duties as assigned by your line manager.
- Ensuring all required training is kept current and refreshed when needed.
- Fostering positive working relationships with staff and clients.
- Adhering closely to all company policies and procedures, keeping up to date with any changes.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Minimum of two years’ experience of driving a bus or coach to a high standard with experience with both GB Domestic & EU Drivers Hours Regulations.
- Hold a full unrestricted D driving licence with no more than 3 penalty points
- Hold or willing to apply for a DVLA Digital Tachograph driver’s card
- Hold a current CPC Drivers card
- Willing to undertake and satisfy a Disclosure and Barring Service check
- Hold a current and valid D4 medical examination report
