We’re looking for a Carpenter to join our Home and Community Maintenance team at Freebridge Community Housing. In this hands-on role, you’ll carry out essential repairs and maintenance across our housing stock, using your trade expertise to ensure homes are safe, well-maintained, and finished to the highest standards.
You’ll work as part of our in-house team, diagnosing issues, planning and completing works, and keeping residents informed throughout. This is a great opportunity to use your carpentry skills in a role that values craftsmanship, teamwork, and putting customers first.

Freebridge was set up in 2006, to receive the transfer of the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk’s housing stock. What you’ll be doing:
- Maintenance and/or construction tasks: Undertake maintenance and/or construction tasks as in accordance with the Freebridge Standard and industry best practice to achieve great customer satisfaction.
- Communication and Updates: Explain trade tasks and update colleagues and customers, including timescales, for the works.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Work in a manner to ensure your own and other colleague’s safety, our customers safety and the safety of the public, following all internal guidance and requirements and industry best practice.
- End-to-End Maintenance Activities: Undertake maintenance activities from pre inspection, through specification and materials ordering, through work completions and post inspection and administrative completion to ensure that the paper or electronic completion of works is carried out in a timely manner.
- Team Collaboration: Work as part of the Property Services team to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the whole service. This will include working as part of any of the delivery teams and working alone or with other colleagues to undertake and complete maintenance and/or building works as required.
- Equipment Care & Maintenance: Be responsible for the inspection, checking and as appropriate maintenance of Freebridge and hired equipment, including but not limited to, vehicles, hand tools, power tools, ICT equipment, phones, uniforms, access equipment, PPE etc. This will include the regular cleaning, tidying and recorded keeping of such in accordance with Freebridge requirements.
- Material Management: Be responsible for ordering, using, storing and the record keeping of materials supplied via the stores in line with the procedures, collected from merchants or delivered to site, ensuring that these are utilised effectively and efficient and that waste is minimised and that all materials can be always accounted for accurately.
- Record Keeping: Ensure the complete and accurate record of all activities is maintained at all times in accordance Freebridge requirements.
- Vehicle & Uniform Standards: Responsibility of undertaking vehicle inspections when required and ensuring the vehicle and uniform are clean, tidy and positively represent the Freebridge brand.
What we’re looking for:
- City & Guilds (or other recognised awarding body) trade qualification in an engineering trade
- 3 yrs. experience of engineering trade in a maintenance environment
- Advanced craft in trade skill
- Experience of and current training in health & safety and ladders
- Ability to use ICT mobile systems
- Specific qualifications as required by trade
- Commitment to excellent customer service.
