We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Team Leader to join our children’s residential home for young people aged 7 to 17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). This role requires strong leadership, a trauma-informed mindset, and the ability to maintain high standards of care, safeguarding, and regulatory compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Lead shifts and ensure smooth day-to-day operation of the home
- Support children in line with care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support plans
- Provide supervision and guidance to residential support staff
- Oversee accurate documentation including incident records, Regulation 40 notifications, and contribute to Regulation 45 reporting
- Participate in the induction, training, supervision, and annual appraisal of staff
- Contribute to the development of a therapeutic and nurturing environment
- Maintain effective safeguarding procedures and promote child welfare
- Support with rota planning and ensure appropriate staffing levels
- Liaise with professionals and attend relevant meetings
- Promote children’s rights, independence, and participation in their care
Essential requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a senior or equivalent in a children’s residential home
- Confident understanding of safeguarding and regulatory standards within the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015
- Experience supporting Regulation 40 notifications and contributing to Regulation 45 reports
- Experience delivering or supporting staff supervisions, appraisals, and training
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Willingness to enrol on the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (fully funded)
- Flexible to work as part of a rota, including weekends and sleep-in duties
