What You’ll Accomplish
- Integration: Develop and execute system/subsystem test and integration activities.
- Interface Definition: Develop and manage electrical, communication and physical interfaces across the system.
- Testing & Validation: Develop and drive the integration and system-level test plans to verify functionality, performance, and reliability.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve integration issues, including hardware/software mismatches, communication errors, and performance bottlenecks.
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with electronics engineers, digital engineers, RF engineers, optical, mechanical and software engineers, and physicists to ensure cohesive system integration.
- Support Project Execution: Contribute to project planning and progress tracking, ensuring timely delivery of integration milestones.
- Risk and Feasibility Analysis: Participate in risk assessments, feasibility studies, and rapid prototyping to validate design concepts and integration strategies.
- Expand Technical Breadth: Understanding quantum computer key subsystems, performance metrics, and environmental requirements.
- Develop and Maintain Documentation: Create comprehensive documentation for system integration, test procedures, and verification results to support traceability and future development.
Requirements

- Extensive system integration experience of complex technologies.
- Proven hands-on experience in managing complex systems from concept to delivery, including proficiency with Ansys, MatLab, LabVIEW, TestRail, and SysML.
- Solid indirect leadership skills: bring an empathetic mindset, embed engineering best practices and support engineers & physicists.
Must-have Skills
- At least 10-15 years of practical experience in system engineering working with complex system integration challenges.
- Experience with electrical, functional and mechanical testing of subsystems and assemblies.
- Strong understanding of hardware, digital, embedded and mechanical design principles.
- Strong experience in translating technical requirements into specifications.
- Expertise in developing and executing test plans for complex systems.
- Demonstrated success in bringing system designs to market.
- Proficiency with Ansys, MatLab, Labview, TestRail, and SysML.
- Experience working with suppliers and contractors.
- Strong documentation skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a team player.
- A minimum of a 2.1 BEng/BSc Degree in System Engineering or a related field.
Nice-to-have Skills
- Experience with Cryogenic and vacuum environments.
- Experience in analogue design.
- Familiarity with the vendor supply chain.
- Pragmatic approach to decision-making and design choices.
- Experience in team management.
