Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people?
Have you supported individuals with additional needs and are looking to take your experience into an educational setting?

We are seeking compassionate, resilient and reliable 1:1 Support Mentors to join SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) schools. These roles are ideal for individuals who thrive in a dynamic environment and are committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support to students with SEMH needs

  • Helping pupils regulate emotions, build confidence, and engage in learning

  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams

  • Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting de-escalation when needed

  • Acting as a mentor, role model and trusted adult

Ideal Backgrounds with Transferable Skills:

We welcome applicants from diverse sectors. You don’t need school experience – just the right attitude and relevant background.

You may have previously worked in:

  • Residential care or supported living for vulnerable young people/adults

  • Mental health or addiction support services

  • Prisons, probation, or community rehabilitation

  • Charities or outreach programmes

  • SEN/SEMH provisions or Pupil Referral Units

  • Healthcare or therapy-based roles (e.g., Occupational Therapy Assistants, Support Workers)

Key Skills & Qualities:

  • A calm, consistent and nurturing approach

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Resilience in the face of challenging behaviour

  • Ability to build trust and strong relationships

  • Flexibility and adaptability

  • A good sense of humour and positive attitude!

Requirements:

  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

  • Right to work in the UK

  • References covering the last 2 years

  • Some relevant experience (paid or voluntary)

Ready to Make a Difference?

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop your career in a supportive, rewarding and high-impact role. Many of our mentors go on to secure permanent contracts or gain access to further training in education and youth work.

Apply Now If you want to be part of a team that transforms lives, we’d love to hear from you .

*Important Notice: To successfully apply for the above position, you should be eligible to work in the UK or hold a relevant work visa. Safeguarding, quality and integrity are at the heart of what we do. Pink Tile is committed to safeguarding the welfare of children and young people within education. During the application process, you will be required to:

  • Provide details for us to complete reference checks before employment.
  • Provide an Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to obtain one (which Pink Tile can assist with).

Pink Tile Education, their schools and candidates all share the view of "Best Fit, Every Time" and our role is to ensure that every candidate we place has a positive impact on the team of their new employers. Please note the pay is inclusive of the 12.07% PAYE holiday.

We have a policy, as a matter of courtesy, to respond to all applications within three working days. However, because of the volume of applications, we sometimes cannot reply to individual enquiries. If we have not contacted you within this specified time, your application may have been unsuccessful on this specific occasion, but we encourage you to apply for positions that you may see in the future. Alternatively, please check missed calls and all your email folders as it may have been that we have tried to reach you. Thank you.*
