Burton Addiction Centres (BAC) is an award winning organisation which offers support to individuals with drug and alcohol problems in a range of settings including detoxification and residential rehabilitation, recovery housing, social enterprise cafes and community drug and alcohol based therapeutic and recovery services. We have been successful in securing a Stoke on Trent City Council contract in partnership with We Are With You to deliver the drug and alcohol treatment and recovery service which includes the running of a community Café. We are delighted to announce that we are launching the community café in partnership with Fenton Manor Sports Complex with the focus to provide employment and training opportunities for people who are in recovery from drug and alcohol misuse.
This is an exciting time of development and growth for the BAC as we take over the running of the Café which we are naming Noreen’s Recovery Café after our founder Noreen Oliver who sadly passed away in 2023.
We are looking to recruit people who are motivated by the concept of working as part of a team in a busy community setting providing a safe, warm and welcoming space for our service users and members of the wider local community.
The roles we are recruiting to are far more than just a job, they are a pivotal link to making a positive difference in people’s lives. Are you passionate about your local community and want to make a difference? Are you flexible with your working hours, have a commitment to quality and have organisational skills?
We are looking for an experienced front of house supervisor who enjoys meeting customers and developing people to achieve their potential and can carry out a broad range of operational tasks including:
· Support and deputise for the manager
· Ensuring that the café is adequately staffed by effective rota management
· Key holder responsibilities including opening and closing the cafe
· Operating the till including cash handling and card payments
· Maintaining and monitoring inventories
· Front of house duties
Ensure that high standards are maintained in health and safety, food hygiene and preparation, and dealing with customer feedback appropriately
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and we expect our employees and volunteers to share this commitment. All posts are exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the successful applicants will be subject to a criminal record check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
Having a criminal record will not necessarily bar an applicant from working for us; the nature of a disclosed conviction and its relevance to the post in question will be considered in all circumstances.
We are committed to the fair treatment of our staff, potential staff or users of our services, regardless of age; disability; gender reassignment; marriage and civil partnership; pregnancy and maternity; race; religion or belief; sex; sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnerships, social class or economic status.
We actively encourage applications from individuals with a lived experience of substance misuse.
Note: this job specification is intended to outline the general nature and level of work performed within this role. It is not exhaustive and may be subject to change or modification based on organisational needs.
Due to the unprecedented volume of responses we receive to our vacancies, regretfully we are unable to respond to every application individually. If you have not heard back from us by 24th May 2024 please assume your application for this role has been unsuccessful. We do read each CV carefully and if the situation changes or another potentially suitable role becomes active within six months of your application we will be back in contact.
