These positions are for a fixed term period over the summer months equivalent to 12 weeks. This is an exciting opportunity for an undergraduate to gain experience working within the Economy, Planning and Development Service at Perth & Kinross Council.
Duties will include undertaking surveys and the processing of associated data, and assisting with the collection, updating and analysis of economic and environmental data. You will also have the opportunity of contributing to the wider work of the Place Strategies Team in supporting the production of the Local Development Plan and other strategies.
A hybrid working model is in place with our offices based in Perth.
Skills & Experience Required
- Must currently be working towards a degree in an appropriate subject (e.g. Town Planning, Sustainable Development, Geography, Environmental Science or GIS), ideally in third or fourth year of study.
- Knowledge of one or more of the following areas of work - Housing Strategy, Local Development Plans, Roads and Transport Planning, Climate Change and Sustainability or digital spatial mapping and data processing.
- Good written, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Effective IT skills including a familiarity with Microsoft Office software packages and an ability to use GIS woud be desireable.
- Effective problem solving skills, knowledge and analytical skills.
- Effective presentation and report writing skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team and show initiative to work independently with minimum supervision.
- Ability to travel to a variety of locations across Perth and Kinross.
