Job Title: Stock Controller

Job Summary:
The Stock Controller at Electra Commercial Vehicles plays a crucial role in managing and maintaining accurate inventory levels of parts and materials essential for vehicle assembly and maintenance operations. This role involves overseeing stock movements, conducting regular stocktaking activities, ensuring efficient picking and despatch processes, and maintaining accurate records on Sage 200 or similar inventory management systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory Management:
Maintain accurate records of all stock movements, including receipts, issues, and returns.
Monitor stock levels and ensure timely replenishment to avoid stockouts.
Conduct regular stock audits to verify physical stock against system records.
Stocktaking:
Plan and execute periodic stocktaking activities to reconcile physical inventory with system records.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during stocktaking.
Picking and Packing:
Coordinate the picking and packing of parts and materials for assembly operations or customer orders.
Ensure accurate picking to fulfil production requirements and customer demands.
Goods Receipt:
Receive incoming goods, inspect for quality and quantity, and process receipts in the inventory system.
Coordinate with suppliers and logistics team for timely receipt of goods.
Goods Issue:
Prepare and issue parts and materials as per production schedules or customer orders.
Ensure accurate documentation and recording of goods issued.
Stock Organisation:
Organise stock in designated storage locations for easy retrieval and efficient space utilisation.
Implement and maintain a systematic approach to stock organisation and labelling.
Stock Rotation and Shelf Life Management:
Monitor expiry dates and shelf life of perishable or time-sensitive materials.
Implement FIFO (First In, First Out) principles as applicable.
Inventory Accuracy:
Ensure all transactions (receipts, issues, transfers) are accurately recorded in the inventory management system (Sage 200).
Investigate and resolve discrepancies in stock records promptly.
Reporting:
Generate regular reports on inventory levels, stock movements, and stock accuracy.
Provide insights and recommendations for inventory optimisation and cost reduction.
System Maintenance and Updates:
Maintain and update product codes, descriptions, and other relevant information in the inventory system.
Collaborate with IT or system administrators for system upgrades or troubleshooting.
Health and Safety:
Adhere to health and safety regulations and guidelines in all warehouse activities.
Ensure safe handling and storage practices for hazardous materials if applicable.
Continuous Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement in stock control and inventory management.
Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracy in stock operations.
Qualifications:
Education:
GCSE or equivalent.
Additional qualification in logistics, supply chain management, or inventory control is advantageous.
Experience:
Proven experience as a Stock Controller or similar role, preferably in an automotive or manufacturing environment.
Experience with Sage 200 or other ERP inventory management systems is preferred.
Skills:
Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail.
Proficiency in inventory management practices and procedures.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Good communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Work Environment:
The role will primarily be based in a warehouse or storage facility.
This is a fast-paced role to support operational needs.
