Overview
We are seeking a passionate and reliable Sports Coach to join our growing team at Live It & Get Active CIC, delivering engaging and energetic lunchtime (12:00–1:00) and/or after school (3:15–4:15) clubs in primary schools across Stockton-on-Tees.
This is a fixed-term, term-time role, ideal for a coach who is enthusiastic about inspiring children to be active, build confidence, and enjoy physical activity in a fun, supportive environment.
We are also offering an additional and optional opportunity to join our funded apprenticeship programme, where you will complete your Level 2 Community Activator Coach qualification alongside your coaching, as a part of this role.
Please note: this course is only available to individuals who are not currently in employment, education, or training (NEET).
Responsibilities
Deliver high-quality, fun, and inclusive sports sessions to children aged 4–11 during lunchtime and/or after school
Plan and lead engaging activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and positive social interaction
Ensure a safe and structured environment for all participants, following safeguarding and health & safety procedures
Build strong relationships with school staff, pupils, and families, acting as a positive role model at all times
Take attendance registers and report any incidents or safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant coaching techniques and safety practices
Represent Live It & Get Active CIC with professionalism and enthusiasm at all times
Qualifications
Essential:
- Previous experience working with primary-aged children in a school, club, or community setting
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
- An enhanced DBS check (on the Update Service or willingness to apply)
- Up-to-date safeguarding and child protection training
- Confident communication and behaviour management skills
- Punctual, organised, and dependable
Desirable:
- First Aid certificate
- Minimum Level 2 coaching qualification (multi-sports, PE, or sport-specific)
- Additional coaching qualifications (e.g. gymnastics, dance, football)
- Experience delivering extra-curricular or wraparound care programmes
Working Hours
Monday to Friday, term-time only
Lunchtime clubs: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM
After school clubs: 3:15 PM – 4:15 PM
