£37,068 - £38,058 per annum

The Person:

A great opportunity has arisen to join us as an Autism Social Care Officer in Adults as part of the Safeguarding and Independent Living Team. This team primarily provides social work case management and assessment input to Newham residents with a diagnosis of autism. We are looking for a social care officer who will have the key responsibilities to support the work of the qualified social work team and the SAIL Team Manager.

Key areas of responsibilities will include the following:

To ensure that the principles of “Strengths based Approach” are deployed in your day-to-day practice so that all residents are fully supported to have the best possible personalised opportunities and are supported to exercise choice and control to meet the outcomes they define.

We have a strong commitment to supporting professional development, to improve services and outcomes for vulnerable people.  As a Social Care Access Officer, we know that you want to make a difference and working in the SAIL Team as a Social Care Officer you will be given every support and opportunity to do so, including regular structured monthly supervision as well as informal supervision as and when required.

The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east.  It is well connected  by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London. The London City Airport which serves major European cities is located at Royal Albert Dock. Newham has the youngest overall population in the country. It was one of the six host boroughs for the 2012 Summer Olympics and contains most of the Olympic Park including the London Stadium. It has a thriving arts quarter with the Theatre Royal Stratford East offering excellent entertainment for all the family. There is the University of East London which has two campuses in Newham, one in Stratford and another next to the regenerated Royal Albert Dock. It also has a large Westfield shopping Centre in Stratford which has all the major retailers there.
