Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Grounds Maintenance Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for outdoor work and a strong understanding of landscape maintenance. This role involves maintaining the aesthetics and functionality of outdoor spaces, ensuring they are well-kept and inviting. The Grounds Maintenance Worker will utilise various hand and power tools to perform tasks efficiently while adhering to safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular groundskeeping duties including mowing, trimming, and edging lawns.
- Maintain flower beds, gardens, and landscaped areas by planting, watering, and weeding.
- Operate and maintain hand tools and power tools safely and effectively.
- Assist in the installation and maintenance of irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants.
- Monitor the health of plants and landscapes, identifying any issues such as pests or diseases.
- Clear debris from walkways, parking lots, and other outdoor areas to maintain cleanliness.
- Collaborate with team members to complete larger landscaping projects as needed.
- Follow all health and safety regulations while performing maintenance tasks.
Requirements
- Previous experience in groundskeeping or landscape maintenance is preferred but not essential.
- Familiarity with gardening techniques, including planting, pruning, and irrigation methods.
- Ability to operate various hand tools (e.g., shears, rakes) and power tools (e.g., lawn mowers, blowers).
- Strong attention to detail with an eye for maintaining aesthetic appeal in outdoor spaces.
- Physical stamina to perform manual labour outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
