About us:
The Chantry is a Brainkind specialist neurological care centre based in Ipswich, caring for people aged 18 and over a range of neurological conditions. At The Chantry, we provide the care people need to optimise their health and wellbeing, maximise their independence and support their emotional and social needs.
Our assessment centres, rehabilitation units and hospitals use expert neurorehabilitation to support and help improve the lives of people with a neurological condition or brain injury.
MAIN PURPOSE:
To ensure that the building, equipment and grounds are maintained to a safe and cost-effective standard.
MAIN TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible to develop, plan and implement an internal and external maintenance and decorating schedule, providing minimum disruption to the day-to-day running of the Centre
• Responsible to implement a system for dealing with day-to-day repairs
• To ensure compliance with fire regulations and using of fire equipment and environmental standards
• To record all information as required by Brainkind policies and procedures
• To attend and contribute to internal Quality Improvement Groups as required
• To audit compliance with any requirements and recommendations of Care Standards inspections and audit all programmes of inspection
• To organise and arrange the work of the estates team. Managing the team in respect of performance monitoring, appraisal and motivation. To report any unmet training needs in the use of equipment or processes
• To ensure effective communication with other departments in the Centre and the Estates Management department
• Responsible to ensure the provision of all relevant supplies within available resources
• Take responsibility to contribute to and respond to external inspections
• Facilitating the safe and smooth running of the Service, the post holder is expected to maintain a safe working environment, maintain service user confidentiality, and occasionally taking on reasonable additional tasks
ABOUT YOU:
• IOSH Certificate for Risk Management or willing to work towards achieving this within the first year of employment
• A valid driving license
• Mini Bus driving training certificate or willing to undertake training if applicable
• Knowledge of Health and Safety, COSHH and other relevant legislation
• Proven ability to work as part of a team and supervise others
• Ability to work closely with service users and communicate effectively with them
• Able to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
• Able to work within policies and procedures
• Ability to produce risk assessments as required for activities within the role
• Skilled in a range of minor maintenance procedures
• Demonstrable planning skills
• Competent IT skills
