Permanent Contract
Salary range: Up to £62,400 dependant on experience
Full Time - 37.5 hours per week

The Senior Hospital Contract Executive plays a lead role in managing contracts with and performance of a number of Bupa's larger hospital providers. The Senior Executive is accountable for developing effective provider relationships, negotiating robust contracts, ensuring contract compliance, ensuring quality of services provided and maintaining effective cost control for the hospitals they manage. The Senior Executive will play a crucial role in delivery of healthcare reform initiatives that impact on their hospitals and will also lead a number of initiatives across all providers on behalf of the wider Healthcare Management team.
How you'll help us make health happen:
Accountable for contracts with and performance of circa 5 to 10 larger hospital providers comprising circa £50m to £100m spend pa.
Work cross-functionally to support the shaping and delivery of improved healthcare pathways and strategic initiatives with key providers.
Build effective relationships and agree and manage plans with hospital providers to deliver Bupa's priorities and provider goals.
Horizon scanning and review and approval of provider proposals for development of new sites and services.
Conduct effective negotiations and tenders with hospitals and establish robust contracts and pricing schedules that allow Bupa to effectively manage costs, quality and patient experience.
Secure sign-off for contract renewal proposals and negotiated deals in line with governance framework and ensure all compliance controls are approved and in place.
Manage contracts with hospitals ensuring both Bupa and hospital obligations are met.
Routinely review hospital costs and performance identifying, escalating and resolving emerging issues with the provider and within Bupa.
Proactively identify risks in hospital contracts and ensuring that effective controls are put in place and monitored to manage risks over time.
Work with the Claims Processing team to ensure that hospital invoices comply with the contract, non-compliant charges are highlighted to providers and issues are corrected at source.
Resolve contractual queries and disputes, including identifying accounting provisions required for any potential commercial settlement of contractual issues.
Maintain accurate records of all provider meetings, negotiations and disputes.
Develop productive working relationships with colleagues in Provider Management, the wider Healthcare Management team and service teams in Bupa.
Act as a role model to other members of the team, sharing experience with and coaching others.
Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:
Strong commercial skills. Identifies and understands risks, opportunities and impacts on customers and the business, and is able to develop and deliver effective solutions.
Strong analytical and numeracy skills. Works with large data sets to identify trends, issues and opportunities and to model impacts on customers and the business.
Strong written and oral communication skills, explaining complex issues clearly and concisely, presenting compelling arguments / proposals using fact based evidence and research, adapting style for maximum impact with audiences.
Systematic approach to managing own workload and projects, prioritising competing demands from multiple stakeholders.
Track record of rapid and successful delivery of performance improvements in a challenging environment, working with third party providers.
Builds effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, able to challenge constructively and resolve conflict / issues productively.
Experience of negotiating with third parties to agree complex contracts, addressing conflicting priorities and securing favourable outcomes.
Attention to detail, ensuring accuracy of contract information and reporting.
Strong team player, focussed on delivering own objectives while enabling / supporting others to deliver theirs.
A role model to others. Energetic, positive attitude to work, sharing experience with and coaching others, gives and listens to honest feedback.
Educated to degree level or equivalent practical experience.
Experience of healthcare desirable or other complex, multi service line environment essential.
