We are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Senior Finance Executive to join our Finance team. The Senior Finance Executive works closely with the Head of Financial Control and the Financial Control team who maintain the financial ledgers of the business which forms the foundation of the monthly management information of all banking business units and the annual statutory financial statements of the Bank.
The responsibilities of the role will include support the other team members and specifically include maintaining the departments procedures documentation and accounting policies together with the documentation of internal controls. The role will also work with the Head of Financial Control on various tax returns for example VAT and Corporation Tax together with other statutory returns (e.g. CASH ISA returns, BBSI, ONS and Share options returns).
The Senior Finance Executive will also participate in finance and business projects as required. Projects include designing and testing accounting for new products and services, system upgrade projects and enhancements.
MAIN DUTIES
Key responsibilities require a high level of detail orientation and include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring internal controls are operating correctly and efficiently for financial processes including ensuring procedures and policies are documented.
- Accounting policy documentation and quarterly horizon scanning for new updates.
- Tax accounting and documentation for direct and indirect taxes.
- Assist in preparation of various HMRC/ONS returns.
- Cover and support for other members of the Financial Control team as required.
- Assisting on any ad-hoc duties when required.
Responsibilities also extend to
- Provide support for the preparation of Bank’s annual statutory accounts.
- Liaising with external auditors, tax advisors and other service providers.
- Providing necessary support for financial and regulatory reporting projects.
- Ad - hoc reports and projects – System implementation testing, reviewing accounting flow and account mapping.
- Assist in developing new procedures and controls of the finance function.
Requirements
1. EDUCATION & TRAINING
- Part qualified accountant with minimum 2 years’ experience
- Good A Level and GCSE Level grades
2. EXPERIENCE & SKILLS
- Experience in an accounting role in Banking/Financial Services preferred
- High level competence and proficiency in Excel skills, use of spreadsheet for analysis and accounting software programs.
- Good written skills, some experience in documenting processes.
- Good analytical skills and high level of numeracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.
- Good Interpersonal / communication skills.
