About us

With around 150 colleagues we're small enough to be friendly and large enough to give you scope to develop and progress your career. Our Head Office is in Sutton Town Centre with great transport links and we have hubs where colleagues work and engage with residents all over the borough.

At SHP our strength and depth lies primarily in the knowledge, experience and commitment of our colleagues and their ability to deliver really excellent services to residents. As a landlord organisation this means enabling families and households to be successful, sustain their tenancy and lead healthy and rewarding lives. All colleagues can access a bespoke personal development plan with a blend of on and off the job training provided.

About the Role and our Ideal Candidate

We are looking for a Semiskilled Repairs Trade to join SHP to carry out damp and mould related reactive repairs throughout our stock.

Our aim at all times is to resolve the cause of damp and mould in our residents homes. As part of the damp and mould team you will work with the technical inspectors, building surveyors, administrator and resident liaison officer. You will be assigned to ensure the risks to health are removed and the residents homes are left damp, mould and repair free.

We are a groundbreaking, innovative housing partnership working as a not for profit organisation in the London Borough of Sutton with ambitious objectives for making Sutton a great place to live.

Formed in April 2006 as an Arms Length Management Organisation we work in partnership with Sutton Council and its residents, managing over 6,000 council properties and over 1,500 leasehold properties in Sutton. Although the housing stock is owned by the London Borough of Sutton, day to day management, maintenance and asset investment is the responsibility of Sutton Housing Partnership.

In the last two years we have in-sourced the repairs service, grass cutting service, started an large scale transformation programme for both residents and colleagues, have achieved Customer Service Excellence & Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance accreditation, delivered an Energiesprong retrofit programme, and will be delivering our new asset investment programme based on the best stock condition survey data in the sector, along with much more. We have a strong commitment to colleague engagement, health, wellbeing and flexible working.

Sutton’s population is growing and the need to deliver a supply of affordable homes has never been greater. SHP is quickly becoming a service provider of choice for additional council specialist housing services and has been successful in a partnership bid with a Registered Provider for a stock rationalisation programme where Sutton Housing Partnership will manage over 500 homes in Sutton, Merton, Kingston, and Epsom and Ewell on the Providers behalf.

It is an excellent time to join our ambitious organisation as a skilled plumber joining our in house DLO that provides a responsive repairs service for properties throughout the stock.

Our offer
Colleagues at SHP take pride in delivering on our priorities and find working with us hugely rewarding. In turn, we strive to reward our colleagues fairly and roles are regularly reviewed to ensure pay reflects the responsibilities of the individual in line with our seven pay bands.

Colleagues are encouraged to work flexibly, a good work-life balance is key for us and our key benefits are:

  • Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme – a career average scheme where employees contribute between 5.5% and 12% but more importantly we as the employer make a generous contribution.
  • Annual leave of either 26 or 33 days per year plus paid time off on bank holidays.

  • Simply Health Cash Plan which allows colleagues to claim cashback on dental, optical, consultations and scans.

  • Confidential support from a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme.

Application process
Before applying please refer to the job profile and ensure you meet the essential criteria. You will then need to complete the online application form, adding a supporting statement addressing how you meet the criteria outlined in the job profile.

Sutton Housing Partnership is an accredited Disability Confident Employer. We are signed up to the government’s Disability Confident scheme and have been recognised as a Disability Confident Employer since 2017. We guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the minimum criteria for the advertised role and ensure that our recruitment and selection process is inclusive and accessible.
