We are seeking an experienced and proactive Safeguarding Team Lead to oversee and drive safeguarding practice across our services. The postholder will lead a team of Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs), ensuring that safeguarding processes, decision-making and record-keeping are of the highest standard and compliant with legislation and local authority requirements.
We provide specialist clinical services support to a diverse client population of both children and adults across the UK. We deliver this support through a range of formats: face-to-face groups, digital and online workshops and one-to-one sessions. The Safeguarding Team Lead will be central to ensuring safeguarding practice is consistent, robust and responsive to the needs of vulnerable adults and children, particularly individuals with SEND, complex mental health diagnosis and risk associated with high BMI’s.
Key responsibilities
Leadership and oversight
Provide strategic oversight of safeguarding practice across all services.
Lead and support a team of DSLs, offering supervision, guidance and escalation support.
Oversee complex safeguarding decisions and ensure appropriate escalation to other agencies.
Ensure safeguarding policies and procedures are regularly reviewed, updated and implemented effectively.
Monitor compliance with statutory requirements, professional standards and safeguarding nuances.
Case management and documentation
Oversee safeguarding case management, ensuring accurate, timely and confidential documentation.
Ensure safeguarding concerns are recorded, tracked and followed up appropriately.
Act as the main point of contact for high-risk or complex cases.
Training and development
Design, deliver, and coordinate safeguarding training for staff, including health coaches, customer services and operational teams.
Lead regular safeguarding workshops and refresher sessions to ensure best practice and knowledge across the workforce.
Provide safeguarding supervision to DSLs and ongoing coaching to staff handling safeguarding concerns.
Quality assurance and continuous improvement
Audit safeguarding processes and casework, providing feedback and identifying areas for improvement.
Ensure safeguarding practices reflect the latest legislation, guidance and sector best practice.
Promote a culture of openness, vigilance and accountability in relation to safeguarding across our buisness.
Partnership and liaison
Build and maintain effective relationships with external providers, safeguarding boards, and external agencies.
Represent the organisation at safeguarding meetings and contribute to multi-agency working.
Act as a key advisor on safeguarding for senior management.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Extensive safeguarding experience in children’s and/or adult services.
- Strong working knowledge of safeguarding legislation, statutory guidance and local authority safeguarding procedures.
- Experience managing safeguarding cases, including high-risk and complex concerns.
- Proven experience in leading, managing, and supervising safeguarding staff or teams.
- Ability to develop and deliver effective training.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide clear guidance and support to colleagues at all levels.
- Strong organisational skills with attention to detail and accurate record-keeping.
Confidence and initiative in decision-making, with a solutions-focused approach.
Desirable:
- Experience within health, weight management, mental health, or related services.
- Experience working with vulnerable adults, children and those with SEND.
- Knowledge of safeguarding in both digital and face-to-face service delivery contexts.
- Qualification in safeguarding or child/adult protection.

Pay: £22,268.60-£27,128.20 per year
