The Role
We are looking for an Architectural Technologist or experienced designer to join our growing team as a Retrofit Designer under PAS2035:2023. This role involves producing detailed designs for energy efficiency measures such as internal and external wall insulation, ventilation upgrades and renewable heating solutions, working closely with Retrofit Coordinators, Assessors and contractors to ensure practical, compliant solutions for a range of property types.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop retrofit design packs, drawings, and specifications in line with PAS2035:2023.
- Review survey data and Improvement Option Evaluations (IOEs) to inform design decisions.
- Provide technical solutions for properties of varied construction, including traditional and non-traditional buildings.
- Collaborate with contractors, manufacturers and clients to ensure buildable and cost-effective designs.
- Ensure compliance with current building regulations, ventilation standards, and moisture risk guidance.
- Contribute to Whole House Retrofit plans and support coordinators during design reviews.
Skills and Experience
- Background in architectural technology, building design, or similar construction-related field.
- Experience with energy efficiency measures, retrofitting, or low-carbon housing projects.
- Working knowledge of PAS2035:2023 and relevant UK building regulations.
- Proficiency with CAD or other design software.
- Strong technical understanding of construction detailing, moisture risk, and thermal performance.
- Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Desirable
- Previous retrofit design experience in social housing or large-scale retrofit programmes.
- Retrofit Designer accreditation or willingness to achieve it (training can be provided).
- Familiarity with hygrothermal modelling (WUFI) and thermal bridging assessments.

Pay: £40,000.00-£50,000.00 per year
