Job Title: Repairs and Maintenance Team Leader
Contract: 6-month contract, with the possibility of an extension
Pay Rate: £16.70 Per Hour
Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire, LE11 2TX
Hours: 37 Hours Per Week, Mon - Fri.
Job Purpose
To support the Principal Officer – Repairs and Maintenance in delivering a high-performing, customer-focused repairs and maintenance service. You will be responsible for the supervision, motivation and performance management of the responsive repairs and voids teams, ensuring timely and high-quality repairs that meet customer expectations and comply with statutory and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of in-house trade operatives and contractors delivering responsive and voids maintenance.
- Achieve and maintain top quartile performance in repairs KPIs, customer satisfaction and quality.
- Provide leadership, guidance and motivation to the team, fostering a positive and professional culture.
- Work collaboratively with the Principal Officer to deliver strategic and operational objectives in line with Charnwood Borough Council’s mission and delivery plan.
- Manage complaints and customer issues in a proactive, timely, and professional manner in collaboration with the Customer Liaison Officer.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, safeguarding, CDM regulations, and building codes.
- Maintain and monitor the Out-of-Hours service and ensure robust rota coverage.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of repairs strategies, policies and procedures.
- Oversee the procurement and contract management of external suppliers and support effective supply chain operations.
- Ensure the effective management of tools, vehicles, stock control and depot facilities.
- Prepare written reports as required, including inspection and complaint outcomes, performance reports, and risk assessments.
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of service delivery.
- Deputise for the Principal Officer – Repairs and Maintenance when required.
Person SpecificationEssential Qualifications:
- ONC in Building Studies/Construction Management or equivalent.
- High-level trade qualification.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
Desirable Qualifications:
- HNC in Building Studies/Construction Management.
- Membership of RICS, CIOB or equivalent.
- Health & Safety, Project Management or Leadership qualifications.
Experience
Essential:
- Proven supervisory experience in delivering high-quality in-house repairs and maintenance (DLO).
- Experience in managing responsive repairs and voids works.
- Knowledge of health & safety and employment legislation relevant to the role.
- Experience working within a construction-related environment.
- Track record of delivering excellent customer-focused services.
- Experience managing performance in a target-driven service environment.
Desirable:
- Experience with asset management and planned maintenance contracts.
- Experience managing procurement and stock systems.
- Experience leading organisational change initiatives.
