We are looking for a super efficient, positive and energetic Purchase Ledger Manager to support our Purchase Ledger team on a permanent contract.
This role is based at Tong Garden Centre with some travel across our other 7 sites required on an ad hoc basis. 35.5 hours a week, Monday – Friday, flexible hours. This role will report into Head of Finance.
The team supports our 7 destination centres across Yorkshire, with a combined turnover of £40m with a focus on controlling all aspects of purchase ledger across 2 legal entities.
This is a busy role, so we are looking for someone who has a passion for finance, which motivates everyone else around them, sustaining the Purchase Ledger function, whilst supporting the team with queries and supplier payments. You will maintain and adhere to the month end process to support business efficiency and accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
- Engage, motivate and manage a team of 5 people including running weekly team meeting
- Monitor and review team outputs which include, posting overhead invoices, invoice matching to our EPOS system, statement reconciliations, credit chasing
- Complete/Review Weekly Supplier Payment Runs
- Manage Weekly Payments in line with Cashflow
- Support Head of Finance with Cashflow forecast preparation
- Implement daily / weekly / monthly checks on Purchase Ledger (including Aged Creditors and Negative balances)
- Resolve any supplier queries which have been escalated
- Communicate with buying team on aged queries and credit claims
- Conduct team catch ups, probation reviews
- Manage employee holiday/absences to ensure adequate resource
- Ad hoc financial and administration duties as required including supporting sustainability data reporting
Skills Knowledge and Expertise:
- Experience in a similar role is essential
- Confident working in Sage is valued but not essential
- Retail experience is valued but not essential
- Previous experience of managing/supervising a team
- Is highly organised and has great attention to detail
- Has a passion for problem solving
