Role Details: We're looking for a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Product Stewardship team in an entry-level role that offers hands-on experience in global chemical compliance. In this role, you'll help ensure our company remains compliant with international chemical regulations by supporting key projects and improving internal systems and processes. You'll be at the forefront of identifying regulatory changes, communicating their impact across departments, and helping drive smarter, safer business decisions.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Champion Safety and Compliance: Proactively spot and report safety-related issues, using our tools and systems to help drive continuous improvement.
  • Deliver Real Impact: Take ownership of specific work packages that support our global regulatory compliance projects and business goals.
  • Grow Your Expertise: Develop your knowledge in key regulatory topics and support senior colleagues in understanding their impact on our business.
  • Turn Data into Decisions: Analyse regulatory data and information to support smarter, safer business choices.
  • Communicate with Clarity: Share findings and requirements clearly across teams to support regulatory queries and project outcomes.
  • Build Your Network: Connect with colleagues across technical, production, and business units to become a valued member of our compliance community.
  • Support Legal Compliance: Help ensure Synthomer meets its legal obligations in assigned compliance areas, contributing to our SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) objectives.
Additional Ways You'll Make a Difference
  • Follow Best Practice: Adhere to departmental policies and procedures to maintain high standards.
  • Be a Team Player: Build relationships across technical and commercial teams to become a recognised contributor to the regulatory team.
  • Keep Us Compliant: Ensure raw materials and products meet regulatory standards using our systems and processes.
  • Support Innovation: Collaborate with R&D teams to ensure new product developments align with compliance requirements.
  • Classify with Confidence: Apply local and regional GHS regulations to classify products, update systems, and ensure accurate safety data sheets and labels.
  • Improve How We Work: Help refine and document efficient processes, making sure they’re communicated clearly across the business.
  • Respond & Resolve: Handle customer and internal compliance enquiries, and suggest improvements when challenges arise.
Minimum Requirements: A degree in Chemistry or a related field is preferred; however, candidates with 1–2 years of relevant experience in polymers, coatings, regulatory, or similar environments will also be considered. The role requires strong prioritisation skills and the ability to manage workload independently, along with confident and effective communication.
Location and Travel requirements: This position is based in Harlow, Essex. It is a hybrid role that necessitates being on-site at the Harlow location for at least three days each week.
In addition, we offer a highly desirable benefits package:
  • Private health insurance
  • Company bonus scheme
  • Contributory pension
  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Life insurance
  • Support counselling
  • Company social events throughout the year
