Job Description
We are currently looking for a compassionate, reliable, and experienced Specialist SEN Tutor to work one-on-one with a 14-year-old learner with complex needs. This position is ideal for someone with experience supporting non-verbal or minimally verbal young people, particularly those with additional health-related considerations.
Key Details:
- Student: 14-year-old, non-verbal, on a hybrid education plan.
- Needs: Basic Maths and English support; engaging and accessible teaching strategies are essential.
- Schedule: Initially 30 minutes per session (flexible), with potential to increase.
- Start: September 2025.
- Location: At the learner’s home in E15 4JW (face-to-face preferred initially).
- Other Info: Student is able to communicate in basic terms. Recent health concerns require a calm, patient, and supportive approach.
- Pay: £40.00 an hour and will be pro-rata'd depending on the number of sessions.
What We're Looking For
- Prior experience working with SEN learners, especially non-verbal or autistic students.
- Knowledge of alternative communication methods is a plus (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC).
- A calm and empathetic approach to learning.
- Flexible and responsive teaching style.
- Enhanced DBS check.
- Reliable and punctual.
Desirable Qualifications
- Degree in Education, Psychology, Special Education, or related fields.
- SEN training or certification.
- Experience working with families in home settings.
