We're a well-known busy community pharmacy in Hampton Hill, seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated person to work as a Medicines Counter Assistant, to start as soon as possible. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday 9:00am to 6:30pm. Occasional work on Saturdays 9:00am to 5:00pm might also be offered, but is not a requirement.
You must have at least 6 months, preferably 1-2 years, recent experience employed as a Medicines Counter Assistant in a pharmacy in England.
The main tasks include:
* for prescription customers - taking requests from customers and communicating them to the dispensary, filing prescription medicines that are ready, and handing out prepared medicines.
* for retail customers - advising and selling products, managing the till, ordering and merchandising products for sale.
You will work with a pharmacist and dispensary assistants. The Counter Assistant role is important to the team. You will be trained to work effectively in the role, and will complete a formal Medicines Counter Assistant (MCA) course [if you haven't already], which is recognised in the pharmacy industry.

The duties of your position in more detail are:
Meet and greet most of our walk-in customers at the counter and on the shop floor, and answer phone enquiries
Help and advise customers with product purchases
Take in from customers their prescriptions and prescription requests, for the dispensary team to prepare
File prescription bags and forms for customers who will collect at a later time
Give to customers their prescription medicines that are already prepared
Help customers request prescriptions from their surgery
Buy retail products and process deliveries of products, using an electronic point of sale (EPoS) software till system, which is a full stock control system
Process sales transactions at the till, and cash-up at end of day
Help merchandise, promote and manage our retail stock, and keep the pharmacy and its retail shelves and products clean and tidy
Keep up to date with knowledge of health conditions and our retail products

At least 6 months, preferably 1-2 years, of relevant paid work in the U.K.
At least 6 months of paid work as a Counter Assistant in a pharmacy in England.

References must be provided that support the above. The following will be strong advantages to candidates; previous paid work experience as a Medicines Counter Assistant in a community pharmacy, previous completion of the pharmacy Medicines Counter Assistant (MCA) course, and knowledge of typical community health conditions and pharmacy retail products. These must be demonstrated convincingly in a face-to-face interview.
The salary is negotiable, particularly for candidates with strong relevant paid work experience.
