We are looking for activity leaders to deliver planned sessions to our wonderful students for them to have the opportunity to experience the benefits of the performing arts!
FTM Dance is a Performing Arts respite and day service for children and adults with additional needs, disabilities and medical conditions, aged 5 years old and above. FTM Dance provides performing arts and creative art related activities, sessions and workshops for individuals with a range of needs and abilities, including those with ASD, ADHD, Cerebral Palsy, epilepsy and behaviours that challenge.
Activity Leader Role Profile:
They will facilitate and support individuals to access our sessions and activities (e.g. dance, drama, music) They will provide individuals with high-quality support and care; in line with FTM Dance values (creative, caring and person centred), policies and procedures.
Available shifts
All week days sessions: 8:45am - 3pm
Saturday and Sunday: 9:45am - 3pm
Some Weekend and school holiday availability is essential to the role

Daily tasks expected of the successful Activity Leader could include, but are not limited to:
- Working alongside all company policies and procedures as set out in the employee handbook and contract of employment
- Lead individuals to access FTM Dance sessions and activities
- Supporting individuals in their independence, choices, communication, positive relationships and participation, through encouragement and creative thinking
- Supporting individuals in their personal care tasks, medication(s) and other essential daily routines such as toileting and fluid/nutritional needs
- Supporting individuals with their health-need related tasks, such as gastrostomy, emergency medication and respiratory care etc.
- Supporting individuals in their times of need, including when in crisis, where verbal de-escalation and positive handling intervention is necessary and proportionate to the situation.
- General cleaning duties are expected as part of the role. This could include (but not limited to): hoovering, mopping, discarding of waste, cleaning surfaces, clearing up spillages etc.
- Other general tasks that may be required for the smooth running of the service.
- Being responsible for maintaining an up-to-date subject knowledge by attending and completing all mandatory training as and when set by FTM Dance.
- To work with the Creative Coordinator to deliver session plans that are engaging and suitable for the individuals that attend the service(s)
Person Specification
Required qualifications for the role of Activity Leader
Applicants will be preferred to have, a relevant Performing Arts qualification such as IDTA, BTDA, ISD, Level 2/3 Performing Arts or equivalent
Required experience for the role of Activity Leader
The Activity Leader should have at least 1 years experience in a professional performing arts service or classroom environment. It is preferred that candidates also have experience in a care setting ,This could include applicants who support a family friend; volunteer at a charity; or, supporting development/education within a 1:1 or classroom environment etc.

- The ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
- Problem solving abilities
- Organisational skills and a flexible approach to the job, to support the varying needs of the individuals and nature of the organisation
- Ability to use their own initiative to carry out creative tasks and encourage service users to participate.

FTM Dance is committed to the safeguarding and protection of its service users health and wellbeing. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all criminal convictions, including spent convictions, must be made known at the time of application. Due to working with children and vulnerable adults, and to fulfil safer recruitment, this post is subject to a DBS check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). This post is also subject to two professional references or three character references to fulfil safer recruitment.
