As part of Jennifer Clair, we are offering a hands-on internship for an enthusiastic and detail-driven Pattern Cutting Intern who wants to gain experience within a leading couture atelier. This is an excellent opportunity for a current student with a passion for high-end fashion and technical garment construction.
We are looking for someone who is brave, creative and enthusiastic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Senior Pattern Cutter with creating patterns for bespoke and collection garments (both toile and final).
- Support in translating design sketches into first patterns using both flat and draping techniques.
- Help adapt and alter patterns based on fittings and design development feedback.
- Prepare and cut fabric or toiles for fittings, ensuring precision and fabric grain accuracy.
- Maintain pattern archives, label all pattern pieces, and support digital documentation.
- Shadow fittings and note any changes or construction developments.
- Collaborate with the Production and Embroidery teams to ensure cohesive pattern adjustments.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area in the pattern cutting zone.
What we're looking for:
- Currently studying or recently completed a Fashion Design or Pattern Cutting degree (or equivalent).
- Basic understanding of couture construction and garment finishing techniques.
- Confident with technical drawings and interpreting designer’s sketches.
- Familiarity with calico toile cutting, measuring, and using standard blocks.
- Strong attention to detail, patience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced luxury environment.
- Passionate about luxury womenswear and couture craftsmanship.
- Experience using Clo3D or other 3D pattern design software is a bonus.
- Positive, proactive, and able to take feedback constructively.
