Job Advert: Personal Assistant/Carer for a Young Man with Autism & Epilepsy
We are looking for a kind, calm, and committed Personal Assistant/Carer to support a young man with autism and epilepsy. He is full of character, enjoys a variety of activities, and benefits from a team that is respectful, fun-loving, and supportive of his independence.
Role Details:
- Hours:
- 3 days per week (10am-5pm) supporting on a 2:1 basis
- 1 day per week (9.30am-3.30pm) on a 1:1 basis at a local day centre
- Additional hours available by arrangement
- Location: South Buckinghamshire - to be based in the young person's family home, in the Community and outdoor day centre settings (specific location provided upon application)
- Salary: Competitive and dependent on experience
About the Role:
You will be supporting a young man with complex needs, including autism, epilepsy, and occasional challenging behaviour. Your role will include:
- Encouraging and teaching self-help and independence skills
- Supporting him to engage in community and leisure activities
- Assisting with personal care as required
- Helping to manage routines in a calm and structured manner
- Providing companionship and creating a positive, safe environment
What We're Looking For:
- A calm, patient and friendly approach
- Someone who is respectful and encouraging of independence
- Experience with autism, epilepsy, and behaviour that can challenge (preferred)
- A full UK driving licence (preferred)
- Ability to think on your feet, work as part of a team and follow support plans consistently
- Good communication skills and a sense of humour!
