Job Summary
Due to a member of staff retiring and a reshuffle of roles we are now recruiting for a full-time Medical Receptionist to join our healthcare team.
37.5 hours per week
Example rota:
Monday 8.00-16.30
Tuesday 8.00-16.30
Wednesday 10.15-18.45
Thursday 10.15-18.45
Friday 8.00-16.30
(hours spread Monday - Saturday, there will be occasional Saturdays 9.00-13.00)
The ideal candidate will be the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service and administrative support in a fast-paced medical environment. This role is crucial for ensuring smooth operations within the practice and enhancing the patient experience. On the job training will be provided as needed.
Duties
- Greet patients warmly upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures.
- Manage incoming calls, schedule appointments, and handle patient inquiries effectively.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure confidentiality in accordance with data protection regulations.
- Process new patient registrations and update existing patient information as necessary.
- Coordinate with medical staff to facilitate patient flow and manage any scheduling conflicts.
- Ensure the reception area is organised, welcoming, and compliant with health and safety standards.
Skills
- Strong administrative skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficient in office software applications, including word processing and spreadsheet management.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with patients and colleagues.
- Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks in a busy environment while maintaining professionalism.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is an advantage but not essential.
- A compassionate approach to patient care, demonstrating empathy and understanding in all interactions.
