Job Summary
To contribute in the underwriting of a profitable M&E Treaty book in line with the business plan. To maintain existing broker relationships and develop new ones, helping to generate new business opportunities. To take an active role in helping to develop strategy and team development. To manage critical aggregations such as Offshore Energy and the International Group.
Job Responsibilities
• Underwrite M&E Treaty business in accordance with the business plan and within terms of underwriting authority
• Monitor KPIs and exposures
• Actively participate in peer review
• Liaise with brokers, develop and strengthen relationships, attend client presentations
• Aid in the development of UWAs and developing team knowledge of underlying classes of business; adding value across Energy and PV&T.
• Work with the Class Underwriter to develop strategy and new business opportunities
Skills/Competencies
• Comprehensive understanding and experience of underwriting M&E Treaty OR underlying Classes such as Offshore Energy, Renewable Energy or Political Violence & Terrorism.

• Presentation skills – ability to present to clients, brokers, reinsurers and other stakeholders.
• Analytical skills – numerically literate and able to analyse basic financial and economic data.
• Compliance – ability to ensure compliance with all management and regulatory controls.
• Judgement / Decision-making skills – ability to approach problems logically and rationally and evaluate quantitative and qualitative data to make measured risk decisions.
• Relationship building – ability and confidence to establish and maintain excellent relationships with external stakeholders (such as brokers and clients) in a client-facing role.
Job Qualifications
• ACII preferred
Experience
• Minimum of 5 years experience in the M&E Treaty market or underlying classes of business.
• Active interest in global current affairs, politics, and financial markets.
• Excellent IT skills – including intermediate Excel (ability to use formulas effectively and produce graphical data), and other Windows Office and Adobe applications.
• Strong numerical skills.
