Role Profile:
We are seeking a skilled Production Operative to support our laboratory by machining and preparing test specimens. The successful candidate will work with band saws, lathes and millers to produce tensile and Charpy samples to a high standard of accuracy and quality. You will work closely with our materials testing team to ensure dimensional accuracy, surface finish, and notch geometry meet strict industry requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
· Operate and maintain band saws, milling machines, lathes and other workshop equipment.
· Machine components to exact tolerances to ASTM A370/ ASTM E8 / ISO 6892 and ASTM E23
· Perform basic machine maintenance and keep work area organised.
· Select and set up appropriate tooling, speeds, feeds, and fixtures.
Key Requirements:
· Previous experience in machining, ideally in a laboratory, workshop, or manufacturing environment.
· Competence with band saws and sample preparation techniques.
· Knowledge of tensile and Charpy sample preparation (desirable, training can be provided).
· Ability to follow instructions, technical drawings, and safety procedures.
