About the Role
Heron House, rated Outstanding by the CQC, is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Assistant to support our warm and welcoming residential care home. This is more than just a hands-on role — it's a chance to make a real difference to residents' lives by helping us maintain a safe, comfortable and beautiful environment.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Performing day-to-day property maintenance across our spacious care home
- Handling minor repairs, basic plumbing, decorating, joinery and electrical tasks
- Conducting routine health & safety and fire checks to ensure ongoing compliance
- Assisting our experienced Maintenance Manager with scheduled works
- Driving residents to appointments or outings (full UK driving licence required)
- Being part of an on-call rota to support care staff in emergencies
Who We’re Looking For
- A practical, motivated individual with a keen eye for detail and a “can-do” approach
- Solid DIY or trade experience and a good understanding of property upkeep
- A self-starter who uses common sense and takes pride in getting the job done
- A team player willing to pitch in and support other departments
- Must hold a clean UK driving licence
- Flexible, friendly, and ready to make a difference
