Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join our team. This role involves providing support to children with diverse learning needs, including those with autism and other disabilities. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children and a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. You will play a crucial role in assisting teachers and helping students achieve their educational goals.
Responsibilities
- Support the educational development of children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism and other disabilities.
- Assist in the implementation of education, health and care plans (EHCPs) tailored to each student's requirements.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support during lessons, ensuring that all students are engaged and able to participate fully.
- Foster a positive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes learning and personal growth.
- Collaborate with teachers to develop effective teaching strategies and adapt resources as necessary.
- Maintain clear communication with students, parents, and staff regarding progress and any concerns.
- Assist in managing classroom behaviour, ensuring a safe and respectful environment for all learners.
- Participate in training sessions and professional development opportunities to enhance skills related to special education.
Requirements
- Experience working with children, particularly those with special educational needs or disabilities.
- Knowledge of autism spectrum disorders and effective strategies for supporting individuals on the spectrum is highly desirable.
- Strong teaching skills or relevant qualifications in education or child development would be advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
- A patient, empathetic approach with the ability to adapt to the varying needs of children.
- Experience is beneficial but not essential.
- A commitment to promoting inclusivity within the classroom setting is essential for this role.
