Full Time, Fixed Term - 18 months
We are looking to appoint a Project Surveyor to join our Planned Maintenance service, to work within the team to help run the laundry upgrade and maintenance programme & assist with the review of Fire Risk Assessments.
You will take responsibility for surveying of properties and create work packages that are used by the contractor. Day to day activities of the contractor will also be the post holders responsibility having to work in collaboration with contractor and BCC staff to ensure the project/s are carried out effectively, giving support and guidance where necessary, to ensure safe and high-quality maintenance programmes and installations are carried out to properties within the City council housing stock.
You will also assist the Electrical Project Engineers with the review of current fire risk assessments and implementation of remedial works to bring the FRA to an acceptable close.
What will I be doing?
Experience in plumbing, electrical and construction surveying is essential to the post. An understanding of project management and renewables is desirable as the post holder will need to work with the contractor to help supervise day to day activities. The role will require monitoring of contracts to ensure consistent high standards and best value for money is achieved for BCC and its residents.
You will need to take responsibility of the projects to ensure that all relevant Health and Safety, CDM regulations responsibilities are adhered to by in house and external contractors reporting issues to their line manager.
You will need to have the ability to review existing communal fire risk assessments. You will be required to work with in house operatives and contractors to remedy the requirements listed within the FRA.
We will also want a candidate who is willing to learn and understand new technologies and be keen to help BCC with its target of reducing its Carbon output by 2030. You will be expected to communicate any understanding or knowledge to BCC residents, staff and contractors.
What do I need to have?
We need someone who holds an HNC or equivalent, or extensive practical relevant experience in the plumbing, gas and electrical and construction industry. You will have practical experience in helping to run construction projects, preferably plumbing and electrical contracts. You should have the drive to take the initiative to introduce innovations and to keep continually improving the service we offer to our residents.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.

Additional Information
This is a FULL TIME role, 37 hours per week and is a permanent role. Your working days will be Monday to Friday 8.00- 16.00
