Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Nursery Kitchen Assistant to join our team and support the daily preparation of healthy, balanced meals for children aged 3 months to 5 years. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing nutritious food, understand dietary needs, and maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and food safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare fresh, balanced meals and snacks each day, tailored to the dietary and cultural needs of children, including those with allergies and special dietary requirements.
- Support the Lead Chef with meal planning and the development of rotating menus.
- Serve food in an age-appropriate manner, ensuring the correct meals are given to children with allergies.
- Maintain high standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the kitchen at all times, in line with Environmental Health and Ofsted requirements.
- Ensure correct stock rotation, monitor food supplies, and order stock as needed.
- Keep accurate food safety and hygiene records in line with regulations.
- Liaise with the childcare team about food for activities, special events, and dietary needs.
- Wash up and clean kitchen equipment daily, including fridges, microwaves and cupboards.
- Attend quarterly staff meetings and occasional open days or events as required.
Requirements:
- Minimum Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, is preffered but not essential.
- Previous experience working in a nursery or childcare setting preferred.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- A positive attitude, good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
- Commitment to promoting a safe and welcoming environment for children, staff and families.
- Be able to work 9am- 1pm Monday to Friday
