Job Title: Internal Quality Assessor (Childcare Apprenticeships)
Reporting To: Lead IQA / Quality Manager
Purpose of Role:
To ensure the quality and consistency of assessment practices across childcare apprenticeship programmes, maintaining compliance with awarding organisation standards and supporting assessors in delivering high-quality learner experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Plan and conduct sampling of assessor decisions in line with IQA strategy and risk banding
- Ensure assessments are valid, reliable, fair, and consistent across childcare qualifications
- Maintain up-to-date IQA documentation aligned with awarding body and Ofsted requirements
- Assessor Support & Development
- Observe assessor practice and provide developmental feedback
- Mentor trainee and qualified assessors to improve assessment delivery
- Lead standardisation meetings and contribute to assessor performance reviews
- Support assessors with EPA (portfolio building/ working towards distinction criteria/ uploading of portfolios)
- Learner-Centric Monitoring
- Conduct learner interviews to evaluate assessment quality and learner experience
- Track learner progress and ensure timely achievement of qualifications
- Support assessors in using platforms like ONEFILE for assessment planning and feedback
- External Quality Assurance (EQA)
- Prepare for and participate in EQA visits
- Ensure portfolios and evidence are securely stored and accessible for sampling
- Liaise with curriculum leads and awarding bodies to maintain compliance
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Qualified IQA (e.g. Level 4 Award in the Internal Quality Assurance of Assessment Processes and Practice)
- Occupational competence in childcare (e.g. Early Years, Residential Childcare)
- Experience in apprenticeship delivery and assessment
- Strong understanding of Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework
- Proficiency in digital systems (e.g. ONEFILE, Excel)

- Ability to identify and implement best practice in assessment
- Skilled in mentoring and coaching assessors
- Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting skills
- Collaborative mindset with a learner-first approach
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Freelance
Pay: £488.40-£644.33 per week
Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
Work Location: Hybrid remote in Blackpool FY4
