Palmers Lodge is set in a beautifully restored Victorian mansion in Swiss Cottage, we’ve been welcoming travellers from around the world since 2006. Right now, we’re on the lookout for friendly, switched-on team players to join our Front Desk and Bar Team — a hybrid role that will see you bouncing between reception and the hostel bar, being the welcoming face of our hostel day and night.
Key skills and qualities we are looking for:
- Excellent spoken and written English
- A passion for hospitality, travel, and people
- Previous experience in a similar role (hostels, customer-facing, hospitality, or security work all count)
- Initiative and self-motivation — you don’t wait to be asked
- Cool head under pressure and a problem-solving mindset
- Confident with handling cash and keeping things secure
- Team spirit with the ability to work independently when needed
- A good sense of what’s going on in London — you're our in-house guide!
Main task and duties:
- Managing reservations, taking payments, check-in & out guests, handling enquiries and complaints, patrolling and security walks, responding to guest reviews, assisting managers with ad hoc task around the hostel (special events, etc)
- Preparing drinks, keeping the bar clean, tidy and stocked. Interacting with guests and hosting events.
