Job Summary:
The Health Care Assistant (HCA) supports the clinical team by providing a range of delegated clinical and administrative tasks. Working under the supervision of a registered nurse or GP, the HCA plays a key role in supporting the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Duties:
- Phlebotomy (venepuncture)
- Measuring and recording vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, oxygen saturation)
- New patient health checks and NHS health checks
- ECG recording
- Height, weight, BMI, and waist circumference measurements
- Urinalysis
- Wound care and dressings (if trained)
- Spirometry (if trained)
- Administering influenza, B12 and other injections under a PGD or PSD (if trained)
- Blood glucose and HbA1c monitoring
- Smoking status assessment and brief cessation advice
- Chaperoning clinicians during intimate examinations
- Supporting chronic disease reviews, including data collection and template completion
Administrative Duties
- Accurate clinical record-keeping using EMIS
- Read coding of clinical information
- Assisting with audits and data collection
- Stock control and equipment maintenance
- Ensuring clinical areas are clean and fully stocked
- Supporting recall systems and patient follow-up

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: £13.00-£14.50 per hour
