About us

UCL – London’s Global University – is a world-renowned institution recognised for academic excellence, innovation, and impact. At the heart of our operations lies the Professional Services Hub (PS Hub), which supports UCL’s mission through the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and customer-focused services. We bring together talented professional staff across a wide range of operational areas, ensuring that the university meets its regulatory obligations while offering a first-class experience to its diverse community.

About the role

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Staff Immigration Compliance Manager to lead the Compliance function within our HR Services team. In this vital role, you will report directly to the Head of Staff Immigration & Compliance and be responsible for managing a team of Compliance Officers. Your primary focus will be to drive a high-performance, customer-centric culture while ensuring all compliance obligations across HR processes are met. You will oversee the full spectrum of immigration compliance, right to work checks, GDPR adherence, internal and external audits, and the development of standard operating procedures. You will also manage relationships with external providers and act as the main point of contact for legal and regulatory bodies, ensuring that our processes remain robust, up-to-date, and in line with evolving legislation. Your work will support the delivery of accurate data through our HR systems and contribute directly to the university’s strategic goals.

About you

You will bring substantial experience in a managerial role within a compliance-driven environment, ideally within higher education or another complex organisation. Your expertise in UK immigration legislation, regulatory frameworks and data protection law will be essential to success in this role. You are confident in developing and monitoring risk-based compliance controls and are skilled in engaging and advising stakeholders across different teams. You have a strong track record of leading teams, improving processes, and managing service performance. Your understanding of customer service systems and HR technologies, alongside your ability to interpret and implement legislation into practical guidance, will ensure you can influence and improve compliance practices university wide. Above all, you are a collaborative, detail-focused professional who is passionate about delivering excellence and supporting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

If you’re ready to make a meaningful impact at one of the world’s top universities, we’d love to hear from you.
