Job Title: Head of Quality and UCC Education Programmes

Are you passionate about educational excellence and shaping the future of teacher education? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Head of Quality and HE Education Programmes to lead quality assurance and enhancement across our diverse and ambitious Further Education (FE) college.

About the Role:

As Head of Quality and HE Education Programmes, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of:

  • All Initial Teacher Education (ITE) programmes, ensuring they meet regulatory standards and produce exceptional teaching professionals, HE Early Years and HE Business programmes.
  • College-wide quality assurance and continuous improvement, driving performance and fostering a culture of high expectations.
  • The development of inspirational teaching, learning, and assessment practices across FE, HE, and adult provision.

You will work closely with senior leaders, curriculum managers, and external partners to ensure our provision not only meets but exceeds sector benchmarks, positioning the college as a centre of excellence in teacher training and quality learning experiences.

What We are Looking For:

  • Proven leadership experience in quality assurance, teacher education, and higher education.
  • A deep understanding of ITE programme management and regulatory frameworks.
  • An innovative mindset, with the ability to inspire and embed outstanding teaching and learning.
  • A relevant degree (essential) – an MA in Education or related field is highly desirable.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and strategic planning skills, with the ability to lead change effectively.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Mathematics GCSE 4+ or C and above / CSE Level 1 / O-Level C or above / Level 2 Adult Numeracy or Literacy or equivalent.
  • Degree/postgraduate or equivalent (MA in Education desirable)
  • Teaching qualification – minimum of Level 5 (e.g. Certificate in Education/PGCE or equivalent).

Essential Experience:

  • Knowledge and experience of current practices and innovations in HE and FE and in particular statutory and national developments in Initial Teacher Education
  • Detailed knowledge of the requirements for Ofsted Initial Teacher Education
  • Ability to carry out all aspects of the ITE lead role including observation of trainees, mentoring trainees and quality assurance
  • Evidence of leading and supporting staff in the development of strong teaching, learning and assessment across a range of provision types, embracing innovative practice and leading to demonstratable positive impact for learners.
  • Good knowledge and experience in current practices and innovation within Higher Education
  • Knowledge of cross college/cross provision quality assurance and quality improvement processes
  • Evidence of leading and supporting staff in the development of strong teaching, learning and assessment embracing innovative practice and leading to demonstrable positive impact for learners.
  • Evidence of effective and efficient management and deployment of staff and non-staff resources in the support of a high- quality student experience.
  • Experience of proactive curriculum development, promotion and marketing which ensures continuous improvement of the curriculum.
