As part of the management team at Didsbury, this role will focus on leading the sourcing and management of goods and services, within an aerospace company manufacturing environment. This role involves leading a team, developing procurement strategies, and collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure timely and cost-effective acquisition of the necessary materials and equipment.
Primary Accountabilities
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with the overall business objectives, focusing on cost reduction, quality improvement, and risk mitigation.
Team Management:
Lead, manage, and develop a team of procurement professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development.
Supplier Relationship Management:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and ensuring favourable terms for the organisation.
Stakeholder Collaboration:
Work closely with engineering, project management, and other departments to understand their needs and facilitate the procurement process.
Risk Management:
Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the procurement process, including supply chain disruptions and compliance issues.
Cost Management:
Monitor and control procurement costs, ensuring value for money and adherence to budgetary constraints.
Compliance:
Ensure compliance with all relevant procurement regulations and legislation.
Performance Management:
Track and analyse procurement performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Essential Personal Skills / Attributes
Proven Procurement Expertise: Extensive experience in procurement, ideally within an engineering or manufacturing context.
Leadership and Management: Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and develop a procurement team.
Negotiation and Contract Management: Strong negotiation skills and experience in managing goods and service contracts.
Stakeholder Management: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyse data, identify trends, and develop effective solutions.
Technical Understanding: Familiarity with engineering principles and terminology is often required.
