Overview
This exciting and varied post supports the Clubhouse Manager in the delivery of the food and beverage offering at Cowdray Golf Club.
As Golf Club Supervisor, you will be expected to greet guests upon arrival and provide efficient customer service when serving food and drink.
You will be depended upon to keep the clubhouse and yourself to a high standard of cleanliness, tidiness, and organisation, in line with the estate’s expectations.
This role requires flexibility, as shifts will include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holiday cover.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Engaging with members and guests, ensuring that every individual receives a warm welcome and enjoys a high-quality experience throughout their visit.
- Managing golf club events, overseeing all aspects of planning and execution, ensuring seamless coordination between departments to deliver memorable occasions.
- Working with the Clubhouse Manager to oversee the day-to-day hospitality operations, ensuring standards are consistently maintained across all areas of service.
- Maintaining the highest level of hygiene, particularly in the handling of equipment such as crockery and glassware. Ensuring all items are cleaned, stored, and presented to a professional standard is vital in delivering an exceptional dining and hospitality experience for members and guests.
- Handling feedback professionally and effectively, addressing guest concerns and supporting service improvements with a proactive and solution-focused approach.
- Demonstrating good timekeeping and maintaining a presentable appearance, both of which are fundamental expectations of the role.
- Providing occasional cover for the halfway hut as required. Flexibility and a willingness to support different areas of the operation are important in ensuring all aspects of the club run efficiently and that guests continue to receive a seamless service.
- Supporting the Manager and the wider team. This includes assisting in daily operations, ensuring team cohesion, and contributing to the ongoing success of the club by working collaboratively to uphold exceptional hospitality standards.
Cellar Management Responsibilities
- Taking full responsibility for cellar operations, including receiving and correctly storing all deliveries of beer, wine, and soft drinks.
- Ensuring stock is rotated regularly to maintain product quality and reduce wastage.
- Monitoring and maintaining correct cellar temperatures and cleanliness, adhering strictly to health and safety and licensing regulations.
- Line cleaning duties must be carried out according to a scheduled routine to ensure all draught products are served to the highest quality.
- Conducting regular stock checks and liaising with the Clubhouse Manager to ensure appropriate levels of stock are maintained at all times.
- Identifying and resolving minor technical issues with dispense equipment where appropriate and reporting more serious faults promptly to maintenance providers.
- Ensuring the cellar is secure and that all procedures are followed for stock control and loss prevention.
Essential Skills and Attributes
- Immaculate personal presentation and a confident, professional, and welcoming personality.
- Fluent and clear spoken English.
- Relevant experience within a hospitality or events business.
- Experience providing intuitive service and memorable guest experiences.
- Strong organisational, administrative, and communication skills with the ability to work under your own initiative.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Rewards
A salary of £26,000. The package includes pension contributions and 26 days of annual leave in addition to public holidays.
