General Teaching Assistant – Reception (Early Years Focus)

Start Date: 1st September 2025
Pay: £90–£100 per day (depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-time, Term-Time Only
Are you passionate about Early Years education and ready to make a meaningful impact in a Reception class? We are working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Barnet seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic General Teaching Assistant to join their team from the start of the academic year.
The Role
This is a fantastic opportunity to support young learners in a vibrant Reception classroom. You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver high-quality learning experiences, nurture pupil development, and help create a safe, stimulating environment where children can thrive.
Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting teaching and learning across the Reception class
- Delivering small group interventions and one-to-one phonics support
- Assisting with planning and preparation of activities tailored to Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) outcomes
- Promoting positive behaviour and safeguarding practices
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Proven experience in an Early Years setting, ideally within a Reception class
- Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and development milestones
- Confidence and skill in supporting phonics, particularly systematic synthetic phonics (e.g., Read Write Inc., Jolly Phonics, or Letters and Sounds)
- Patience, warmth, and a nurturing approach to support young children
- The ability to build strong relationships with children, staff, and families
This role is perfect for an experienced EYFS TA or an aspiring Early Years teacher looking to deepen their classroom experience.
