About the Role
We’re seeking a Tactical Encounter & Tile System Designer to help create a cohesive, modular tile system for tabletop RPGs — and the encounters that bring those tiles to life.
This role blends strategic gameplay design with system-level thinking. You’ll design terrain types, structure them into themed sets, and create tactical encounters that showcase how tiles can be used creatively. You’ll also spec out “Scenario Tiles” — curated tile groups bundled with ready-made encounters and sticker overlays — and work with artists to turn your ideas into polished products.
Responsibilities
- Design modular terrain tiles with strategic gameplay and versatility in mind
- Define and organise terrain types (e.g. river, cliff, forest) into cohesive themed sets
- Design tactical encounters that make full use of elevation, positioning, terrain interaction, and chokepoints
- Collaborate with artists and production teams to deliver a finalised product
Requirements
- Strong experience designing tactically complex gameplay (TTRPGs, board games, or strategy games)
- Ability to systemise terrain design for modular use
- Clear and organised communicator, comfortable working across time zones
