Calling all Visionaries! Design the next big thing at tombola!

Do you have a knack for creating jaw-dropping visuals and experiences that keep people coming back for more? Can you dive deep into what makes a game truly irresistible? Then we want to hear from you!

We're tombola, the UK's biggest online bingo site, and we're passionate about crafting all our amazing games right here in-house. We're on the hunt for a brilliant Game Designer (or even a Senior Game Designer!) to join our fantastic Game Studio team in Sunderland. This isn't just about drawing pretty pictures; it's about shaping the entire look, feel, and journey of our games for millions of players!

What you'll be getting up to (a glimpse into your exciting design world!):

You'll be at the heart of our game creation process, turning exciting ideas into playable realities. You'll be:

  • Industry Insider: Keeping your finger on the pulse of the wider gaming and app world, spotting key competitors, features, and trends that could influence our next big hit.
  • Concept Creator: Planning every step of a player's journey, helping steer game mechanics from a narrative and visual perspective, and building immersive visual worlds.
  • Player-Focused Design: Validating your game concepts with data and player insights, ensuring every design choice truly resonates with our amazing community.
  • Production Pro: Understanding how other development teams work and structuring your files to ensure a smooth journey from concept to launch.
  • Collaborative Wizard: Working hand-in-hand with teams across the studio, contributing to game development and helping us overcome any creative hurdles.
  • Branding Boss: Interpreting and expanding on tombola's unique art and style guides to ensure our games always look and feel authentically "tombola."

Your design superpowers:

  • Deep understanding of tombola games and the wider mobile gaming industry.
  • Exceptional Illustrator with a strong background in both Graphic and UI/UX design.
  • Mastery of Adobe Illustrator and Figma – your creative toolkit!
  • Ability to interpret a brief, grasp its bigger goals, and inform brilliant design solutions.
  • You'll drive and own the look, feel, and overall player experience of our games.
  • Awareness of key company and Game Studio strategies, goals, and OKRs.
  • You can present your amazing work concisely and clearly to anyone in the business.

Bonus points if you have (especially for a Senior role!):

  • A knack for leadership and mentoring less experienced designers.
  • The ability to pitch and sell your game concepts like a pro.
  • An understanding of the business impact of our games and what drives their success.
  • Experience in reviewing and improving processes, and even creating new ones!
  • Understanding of the R&D game development process and how to manage work roadmaps.

Why this role is a game-changer for you:

You'll be making a significant contribution to producing truly exceptional, industry-leading games that millions of players love! This role offers a fantastic environment to continuously grow your skills, influence our product roadmap, and collaborate with incredibly talented teams.
