Funeral Operative
Based at Tamworth, Upper Gungate, The Mews B79 7HZ
Full Time position – 39 Hours per week
Part Time position – 20 hours per week
Normal working days are Monday to Friday
We are seeking a number of Funeral Operatives to join our team based at Tamworth on both a full and part time basis.
Normal working days Monday - Friday with a requirement to participate in the 24 hour 'out of hours' call out rota.
Job Purpose: To assist in all aspects of the Funeral Service, from receiving stock, providing mortuary and ambulance cover as well as Driving, bearing, care of floral tributes and personal effects as directed by the Management Team.
Key Responsibilities will include:
- Stock Control & Preparation - to include engraving name coffin / casket plates as required as well as to trim line and fit coffin as per workshop order
- Ambulance & Mortuary Duties - to include the transfer of and caring of the deceased.
- Funeral Duties - to include driving cortege vehicles, assisting family and other mourners in attendance at funerals as well as bearing coffins as directed.
- Funeral premises & vehicles - to ensure the cleanliness of funeral premises (including mortuary) as well as funeral vehicles
- Participate fully in our 24 hour service “out of hours” call out rota which there will be a stand by payment and other additional payments to be discussed at the interview.

- Previous experience of working within the Funeral industry or comparable role is desirable but not essential
Applicants must reside within a distance of 5-10 miles of B79 7NZ / WS12 3EA due to call out duties.
Uniform is supplied
Successful candidates will be over 25 due to insurance restrictions on ceremonial vehicles
Hourly rate of pay: £12.68 per hour
