Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate functional skills Tutor to provide personalised educational support to our students. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in teaching and tutoring, with the ability to engage effectively with children with SEN. This role involves creating tailored lesson plans, fostering a positive learning environment, and helping students achieve their functional skills in Maths and English.
Central Building & Welding Academy have an exciting opportunity for an experienced functional skills tutor teaching 16–18-year-old students. We have small cohorts of 6 students and are looking for an enthusiastic tutor to help them pass their functional skills alongside the L1 and L2 multi skills in construction that they are taking with us.
CBWA are currently looking to recruit a highly motivated tutor who can inspire our learners and help them to reach their full potential with our level 1 and 2 construction courses. At CBWA we pride ourselves on our ability to support young learners that have previously struggled to engage in regular academic environments. This course is an established part of our curriculum, and we are a high achieving training provider with strong links to the local authority and many of the schools in our area.
Our group sizes are small and manageable, in this role, you will be working with a maximum of six learners. You will also be supported by our construction tutors who will embed the Maths and English into the construction training that we deliver.
Duties
- Conduct one-on-one or small group tutoring sessions in maths and english.
- Develop customised lesson plans that cater to the individual learning needs of each student.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and adjusting teaching methods accordingly.
- Create a supportive and encouraging atmosphere that promotes student confidence and motivation.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student progress and areas for improvement.
- Collaborate with other educators and specialists, particularly for students requiring special education support.
Skills
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching, with a strong understanding of educational methodologies.
- Experience working with children, demonstrating patience and adaptability in different learning situations.
- Knowledge of special education practices is advantageous for supporting diverse learning needs.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively convey information to students and their families.
- Strong organisational skills to manage lesson plans, schedules, and student records efficiently. This position offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on students' academic journeys while fostering a love for learning in a supportive environment.
