Are you an experienced childcare professional looking for flexibility without sacrificing meaningful impact? At our therapeutic children’s home in Merstham, Surrey, your presence as a Bank Residential Childcare Practitioner will offer stability, support, and care to young people when it’s needed most.
Whether covering staff absences, assisting during peak times, or supporting planned activities, your role will play a vital part in maintaining a healing, nurturing environment for children aged 10–18 who have experienced trauma or disrupted care.

Your Key Responsibilities
- Build strong, trusting relationships with children and young people
- Deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care tailored to individual needs
- Support therapeutic and outdoor-based activities
- Maintain consistent routines and provide positive behavioural support
- Record observations and incidents to meet regulatory requirements
- Work collaboratively with permanent staff to ensure continuity of care
What You Bring
- Experience in residential childcare or a similar care setting
- A calm, confident approach to emotional and behavioural challenges
- Understanding of safeguarding, trauma-informed care, and therapeutic models
- A full UK driving licence
- Availability for long day and sleep-in shifts (10:00am–11:00pm, sleep-in, 7:00am–10:30am)
