What We Are Looking For
In this post the person appointed will be a member of a team providing 24 hour residential care to young people who are accommodated by Crannoch Residential Child Care Service and which assesses the young people’s needs using a child centered approach.
The successful candidate will be asked to undertake shifts in order to meet the needs of the service, including evenings, weekends and sleep ins (sleep allowance of £42 per sleep paid).
You will be enthusiastic, have a good sense of humour, dynamic and have a sound understanding of children’s behaviour, development, and attachment disorders. You should also have the ability and experience to contribute, with colleagues and our consultants, to form individual Personal Plans and planning any therapeutic interventions.
All applicants must have or be working towards an HNC in Social Services or SVQ3 Social Services (Children & Young People), and/ (or an award of certificated knowledge with 96 credits at or above SCQF level 7) as a minimum, preferably both.
All applicants must meet the SSSC registration requirements for the appropriate part of the register.
All successful candidates will undertake a PVG Scheme Membership check through Disclosure Scotland.
All applicants should have recent experience working with children in the residential care system.
All applicants must have basic computer skills.
This position requires someone who will be innovative and promote the individual needs of very vulnerable children. You will be required to write reports, attend meetings and Children’s Hearings. You will have the responsibility for ensuring the progression of the children’s care plans.

The Resources
The post holder will be supervised by a Senior Residential Child Care Worker.
Duties will include maintaining a safe and nurturing environment, including undertaking household tasks, which promotes the needs of young people in accordance with National Care Standards.
The successful candidate will have access to an induction program as well as monthly E-Learning programs that are put together and specific for your role. Additional training will be provided in managing difficult behaviour, Attachment Disorder, Anger Management, and other topics as required to enable staff to carry out their task of caring for Children and Young People.
